Arriving
There are comprehensive directions to the University here.
You can walk up the hill from Canterbury West station, or you can get a bus.
If it's late the easiest way is to get a taxi from outside the station. Ask to go to the University of Kent (not one of the other universities in Canterbury). For people who have booked standard rooms, these are in Rutherford college. Ensuite rooms are in Tyler Court, which is next to Rutherford. Both Rutherford College and Tyler Court are in square K on either of the maps here. The taxi driver may know precisely which buildings Tyler Court and Rutherford college are.
If you arrive early, before about 10pm, just go to the reception of the appropriate building. You'll be on a list and you can pick up your key. The official check-in is from 2pm but there is a locked room where you can leave baggage if necessary.
If you arrive late: There is a keypad phone outside the entrance to Tyler Court. If you are unable to get in to the building because it is out of hours, please dial 3300 on that phone and security will come and check you in. Rutherford reception may still be manned. If not, there is a grey phone on the left inside the automatic doors. Dial 3300 on that phone and security will come and check you in. The red phone is just for emergencies...
Breakfast for everyone, including those staying in Tyler Court, is in Rutherford college dining hall from 0800-0900.
For people arriving early enough on Sunday to want an evening meal, there is a plan to meet at 1830 at the main entrance to Rutherford College.
If you arrive late on Sunday, there is a shop on campus (with cash machine) but it closes at 2200. The K-Bar in Keynes college will be open until 2300. It would probably be better to get food en route, e.g. at St Pancras station.
